Scholarship Criteria & Guidelines

The scholarship committee of Dare to Imagine strives to promote the idea that a college education should not be an obstacle but rather a stepping-stone for our young people to reach their full potential. We are committed to supporting those who show diligence and commitment in their pursuit of higher learning.

Selection Criteria 

To apply, applicants must: 

  • Be a member of Dare to Imagine for at least six months and actively engaged (attending worship online or in-person at least once a month or through iGroup or outreach service communities).
  • Be currently enrolled in a 4-year or 2-year college, university, or institution of higher learning.
  • Answer all the questions on the application form.
  • Provide a an official transcript with most recent GPA.

Application Deadlines

Applications for consideration for the  Fall semester must be submitted by June 30th

Applications for consideration for the  Spring  semester must be submitted by December 1st

Types of Scholarships

Dare to Imagine Church provides two types of scholarships: Merit Scholarships and Book Scholarships. 

Here is a rewrite of that sentence:

Book Scholarships provide up to $1,000 per academic year or $500 per semester ($4,000 over four years). The scholarship amount for each student is determined based on the applicant’s grade point average (GPA) and the type of institution they are attending.

In Fall 2024, Dare to Imagine will offer Merit Scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. The general guidelines for Merit Scholarships amounts are: 

  1. GPA of 3.5 or higher and matriculating to a 4-year institution = $5,000 award, based on maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher. 
  2. GPA of 3.0 or higher and matriculating to 2-year institution = $2,500 award, based on maintaining a  GPA of 3.0 or higher. 
  3. GPA of 2.5  or higher and matriculating at either a 4-year or 2-year institution = $1,000 award, based on maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

FAQs

What is the deadline for applications for each semester?

Applicants must submit their applications by April 30th to be considered for the Fall semester and must complete their applications by December 1st for the Spring Semester.

When will applicants be informed of the Scholarship Committee's decision?

Applicants will be notified of the scholarship committee’s decision by June 1st for the upcoming Fall semester and by December 30th for the upcoming Spring semester.

How will scholarships be remitted?

Scholarships will be dispensed for a single academic semester at a time. $500 semester Book Scholarships will be remitted directly to the awardee. Scholarships greater than $500 will be paid directly to the school finance office on behalf of the student and will not be paid directly to the awardee.
