Our Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Day of Service event is a powerful opportunity to make an impact in our local community. Together, we have the ability to join forces and do something truly meaningful on this special day that honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
How You Can Get Involved
We invite you to take part in this incredible opportunity to give back and make a difference in our community, by joining us in service at one of the following community events:
Philadelphia High School For Girls Beautification
Location: Philadelphia High School for Girls
1400 West Olney Avenue
Philadelphia, PA 19141
Time: 8am-12pm
Details: Volunteers will be taking part in a multifaceted beautification project, which may include any of the following:
- Outdoors clean-up of the school grounds; includes painting railings.
- Helping with mural on ground floor – It use to be a mural but it is now a blank wall.
- Clean, paint, and update the cafeteria and patio.
- Indoor clean-up; includes wiping down walls.
- Beautification of the bathrooms – Clean, paint, and adding some needed touches of care.
Help assemble “HBCU Love” Care Packages
Location: Marian Anderson Recreation Center

Time: 11am-3pm
Details: Volunteers will be assembling care package boxes, unboxing and sorting snacks, and filling care packages based on the provided list.
Additional Info:
- Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to serve at this opportunity.
- Lunch will be served
- Later in the day (exact time to be provided in a later email) there will be a Divine 9 Step-Show Stroll Off to conclude the day’s activities.
- Volunteers spaces are limited.
Help Clean-UP A.W Christy Recreation Center
Location: A.W. Recreation Center

Time: 10am-2pm
Details: Volunteers will be help clean up A.W. Recreation Center, making is safe and welcoming environment for the community.
